- WHAT IS A HOLOGRAM?
Holography is the Nobel award winning science of recording the light waves emitted from a laser as they are reflected off of an object. The recorded interference pattern of light, when replayed (illuminated or simply lighted) this set of microscopic hills and valleys in the holographic film reproduces an image exactly depicting the original including its three dimensional information. This recreated image is called a hologram. For the observer, the perception is virtually indistinguishable from reality.
- ARE PICTURES THAT SWITCH FROM ONE IMAGE TO OTHER HOLOGRAMS?
Many of our display holograms contain 2 and even 3 or more separate 'images' within the single shot. These are called "multi-channel" holograms (or in some cases "stereograms", which are made up of up to 200 frames of continuous 'film type' imagery.
- CAN HOLOGRAMS BE ENLARGED OR REDUCED?
No, for most practical purposes, holograms maintain an exact one-to-one ratio with the artwork used to create them. .
- WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM QUANTITIES REQUIRED FOR CUSTOM HOLOGRAMS?
Though there are no absolute minimum volumes for custom holography, setup costs are very high. Custom holograms start at thousands of dollars, and to setup for mass production such as many of our display holograms, minimum purchase costs start at $20,000.
- IS THERE MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF HOLOGRAM?
Yes, there are many. Most display type holograms are either silver halide, DCG, photo polymer or embossed. Embossed holograms are the silvery, rainbow colored images for which HoloBrands is best known. The photo polymer type have a green/gold hue which appear deeper and are more visually exciting. Silver Halide are generally on the red side of the spectrum and are generally employed by artists due to the availability of film and low cost of exposure since they can be created by the least expensive CW laser type which is HeNe (Helium Neon).
- ARE THERE "FULL-COLOR" HOLOGRAMS?
Most embossed holograms are created as a "rainbow," so that each holographic element in an image will shift through the entire visible spectrum as the image is moved. Using the latest technology, we now have the ability to color tune holograms. Under ideal viewing conditions and at one particular angle, a color tuned hologram will closely replay the colors in the original scene (check out the Shakespeare, Blooming Rose, Mobius Loop, True Color Flowers, Rose, Toy Shop Window, Jesus, Dizzy and others). There are also true color silver halide and photopolymer volume holograms, though these are extremely time consuming to make and therefor costly.
- WHAT ARE SECURITY HOLOGRAMS AND WHY ARE THEY SECURE?
Security holograms are used to prevent counterfeiting, or to otherwise authenticate the products to which they are affixed. The most commonly recognized form of security holograms can be found on MasterCard and VISA credit cards. Holograms are noteworthy in this regard, since they are both costly to produce and extremely difficult to duplicate. Our parent company is a world leader in the creation of state of the art security holograms, please inquire if interested!
- WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MAIN PROMOTIONAL USES OF HOLOGRAMS?
Besides adorning the wide range of products listed in this website, holograms are frequently used as embellishments on printed media such as magazine covers, paperback books, brochures, direct mail pieces, and pocket folders. Other interesting options include advertising, display, awards and product packaging. We offer world class holograms as promotional and advertising pieces, inquire if interested!
