HOLODISK COLLECTOR’S EDITION
Original Holodisks from the 1980s by Craig Newswanger — individually finished, laminated, and signed on the back.

These are authentic works from a holographic format that was never industrialized. Production quantities were inherently low, and surviving first-quality examples are scarce. Each piece represents a pivotal experimental period in analog stereogram holography.

Each Full Package Includes

Signed Holodisk — image of your choice, hand-signed by the artist
Custom Rechargeable Turntable — 3 speeds, plug + 2 m cord (also operates while plugged in)
Embossed Holographic Foil Storage Box
HoloLamp Display Light — heavy weighted base, height extender rod, 2 m cord, US plug
Universal Power Compatibility — operates on worldwide voltage without a transformer using standard USB-A power sources
• Delivered complete and ready to display for optimal hologram illumination and clarity

Presentation System

The turntable, storage box, COA card, and HoloLamp display system were designed together to create a unified, museum-style presentation specifically for these Holodisks, in direct collaboration with the inventor.

Further Details:

The main video shows the vintage "Original Rita" HoloDisk hologram created by holographer Craig Newswanger. HoloDisks are true laser‑recorded holograms that appear as a miniature 3‑dimensional figure standing in the center of a flat disc. The HoloDisk concept was developed in the mid‑1980s following Craig Newswanger's work at Disney Imagineering (WED Enterprises) and Advanced Dimensional Displays in Van Nuys, California. Inspired by the Star Wars R2‑D2 / Princess Leia hologram scene, Newswanger devised a method that allows a holographic stereogram to lie flat while a miniature human figure appears to stand at its center.

The first HoloDisks were completed in 1986. Planned commercial release was halted by the October 1987 stock market crash, making surviving examples extremely limited. This special HoloDisk Collector's Edition represents authentic original holography produced in close collaboration with the inventor. Edition and technical notes:

• Most HoloDisks in this edition were produced in the 1990s

• "Green Rita" examples are H3 contact copies on Ilford silver‑halide holographic film

• Other images were mastered on Agfa 8E75 acetate‑base sheet film

• Some editions were produced in very small quantities

• Skateboard variants are particularly rare

Each Collector's set typically includes:

• Illuminated HoloDisk turntable display • Artist‑signed HoloDisk • Display box • HoloLamp lighting unit • Certificate of Authenticity
